I had heard about the book de-ranking at Amazon a few months ago.
It seems to have originally been a response to the comments area Amazon had created and allowed any and every comment to stand.
No matter how horrid or asinine.
I knew about a campaign that had been started to target one well known writer and try to get Amazon to remove her work.
The group started going after a few other writers and in what I am convinced was a way to placate these annoying people they set up the "mark as adult" system.
Which was a stupid idea that, like most really stupid ideas, went horribly wrong.
And the de-ranking voting did not get these people what they wanted as the targeted writers have much a too large a following for Amazon to de-rank their works!

It cracked me up that a specific comment was made by Amazon, a few months ago, about it not adding bestiality yet.
***For those of you who get the humour of that comment, and you know who you are ;), I literally had to spit out what I had just sipped in order not to choke.***

Also the de-ranking was much larger and was not all G/L books.
Though it is obvious that an agenda was pushed -hard!
Fetish, erotica, even books viewed as classics were slapped.
Judy Blume yet again!
David Sedaris! That one made my mouth fall open.

Amazon did something incredibly stupid.
What they should have done is have a similiar policy to J R Ward's website Mods are allowed to enforce.
;) And I know several of you know what that means.
Feel free to ask if you don't happen to know that policy.
I think it is brillant and easily applied to all parts of life.

May this stupid move get us one step closer to accepting each otehr.
